While visitors were stampeding toward the more popular shrines and temples, I had these beauties all to myself!

I love spending time in Tokyo, but there are plenty of other sightseeing goodies just a bullet train ride away.

Thousands of torii gates make this Shinto shrine Kyoto’s biggest, and most beautiful, attraction. I enjoyed my second visit even more than the first!

I go mad for Macaques at the Iwatayama Monkey Park near Kyoto.

There’s so much to see in Kyoto, and much of it involves a 20-60 minute bus or train ride. Today, I visited the Arishimaya area and the stunning bamboo forest.

If you have time to do just one thing while visiting Kyoto, the Fushimi Inari-taisha Shrine is a must, with more than 10,000 blazing red torii gates.
